Our ranch is located in a scenic lake valley along Highway 2, in the Sandhills of Nebraska
and has been in the family since 1935. The Sandhills are very old dunes that have grassed over.
Due to seasonal rains and good range management the dunes now blow very little.
Sandhills grasses produce some of the finest beef in the world. The Sandhills sit on top of the
Ogallala aquifer and windmills supply fresh water to our cattle from shallow wells.
Some of our prominent wildlife is mule and whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, coyotes,
hawks, owls, eagles and grouse. Many ducks, geese, pelicans and Sandhills cranes migrate to our
lakes annually. Our herd calves in early Summer.
A few things I would like you to know about us. We take pride in how the land looks, if it looks bad,
it directly reflects on us, we take it personal. We see tremendous potential in the land, we do not
look at this land for what we can get out of it; we look at this land for what we can make it into.
We will take the land as it is and make improvements when we see the opportunity. I like to call myself
an optimistic pessimist, I hope for the best and plan for the worst. I love a challenge. I believe planning
for the future while living like there will be no tomorrow.
Mission: Profitably manage a business that continuously strives to improve the quality of the land and cattle we
are responsible for, while having a positive impact on people’s lives and the beef industry through open
and supportive relationships with our peers, customers, and consumers. |
