Florida Fishing Tackle Manufacturing Co., Inc. (the "Company" or "FFTMC") is a "retroprise" - a reprisal and reformation of a historic St. Petersburg, Florida lure maker that ceased operations in the late 1970's. The Company plans to recapture the legacy of the famous Barracuda® brand through recreating a line of vintage fishing tackle and developing new branded lines of fishing tackle and outdoor apparel, principally marketed and sold on the Internet.
Originally incorporated in the 1923, the original FFTMC was one of the leading makers of fishing tackle in the Southeastern United States. Under the Reynolds Brothers, it became the tackle of choice for many anglers seeking top quality lures at a fair price. Lures made from the 1920's through 1970's under the company's name are highly collectable and have helped to maintain the brand's identity in the marketplace even though products have not been made in more than 30 years. Original lures made by the former FFTMC are prevalent in tackle boxes, at shows and in private collections.
Our Company seeks to manufacture and sell high quality fishable and collectable versions of historic wood lure designs under the Barracuda brand. We are not reproducing past FFTMC products, but offering our own designs in the time-honored tradition of the Barracuda name. Our lures, developed by master American lure artisans, will build off of the legacy of the original FFTMC by offering a unique portfolio of hand turned wood fishing lures that any buyer would be proud to own. Through our efforts we hope to ensure the future of US wood lure manufacturing and lure collecting for many generations to come. |
