I have been an avid amateur photographer for about 40 years. My training as a mechanical engineer includes extensive product development experience with industrial and consumer products. I know that if a new product is to be viable, it must offer unique benefits and functionality to the user at a reasonable price. As an amateur photographer, I saw a need for a truly usable camera strap system that is simple, effective, and comfortable. Existing products did not meet these needs. After reading and compiling comments from over 600 reviews of camera straps and slings, and purchasing several different products for evaluation, it became clear that many features important to me would also be important to other serious photographers. I engineered a design that incorporates all these features. I made several conceptual designs and thoroughly tested and refined them until I was satisfied. However, a crucial part of creating a product includes extensive field testing by the targeted market audience. I enlisted four professional photographers, two avid photographers as well as amateur photographers to test the BosStrap Camera Sling System. For three months, the BosStrap saw use in both the studio and field environments. Professional use proved that the BosStrap met all its original claims. As a benefit, several refinements resulted to the original design that extends BosStrap’s usefulness. Professional camera repair technicians confirmed the viability of the design. Actual weight test validation on BosStrap components and full systems further refined my original design and component choices. With product design complete, I decided to form BosStrap LLC to produce an initial run of BosStraps. From the outset, I wanted BosStraps to be made here in the US. I identified parts suppliers and fabricators who could satisfy my goal. Even the thread that is used in the BosStrap in made here in the US!

Thoughts on America:
I started BosStrap with the intent to keep all parts and manufacturing in the USA. My goal was to achieve a price point that would make me competitive without resorting to foreign resources. I am successful. Though I am a one-man show now, I order parts and fabrication services from USA companies only. That helps keep other Americans employed. As I grow, I intend to use American labor as my resource. We can restore manufacturing in the USA, but we have to promote the real value of our products to Americans.
