1997 - After sourcing Simplicity and Riccar vacuums in Taiwan for 10 years, in 1997 Tacony Corporation opened its own factory in St. James, Missouri and began manufacturing upright vacuum cleaners with 5 employees. 2001 - Tacony Manufacturing outgrew its original location and the now 73 employees moved to a bigger facility. 2003 - The capacity demands of the factory grew and 30,000 square feet were added, including a 10,000 square foot automotive-quality paint system. 2005 - The factory expanded the production area with another 10,000 square feet. 2006 - On September 22nd, a Tornado hit St. James and damaged the factory. Even though the storm ripped open our building and tossed our shipping trucks like they were toys, nothing could stop our teamwork and spirit. The factory was repaired and the assembly lines were up and running within a matter of days. On October 25, 2006, the One Millionth vacuum rolled off the assembly line at Tacony Manufacturing. 2008 - The factory expanded for a third time adding 104,000 square feet making room for injection molding and the 120 employees. 2009 - Tacony Manufacturing will begin producing canister vacuums in the USA, instead of sourcing them from China and Korea. By moving canister production to the USA, Tacony Manufacturing will be creating another 20 jobs for the hardworking people of St. James, Missouri and surrounding areas.

Thoughts on America:
Quality. Durability. Intuitive design. These are the things you find with American made products and finding such items is becoming more and more rare. How many times have you been frustrated with a product and thought to yourself, "who designed this thing?" only to discover it was made half a world away where they would never have use for such a product. When you see Made in the USA on the label, you know you’re getting a product made for Americans by Americans.
