Cedar is a beautiful wood both to look at and to smell. The natural oils in cedar make it a very stable wood which makes it less prone to warp when subjected to even the worst weather. All our hives are made from the finest quality Atlantic/Eastern White Cedar locally and RESPONSIBLY harvested in New Jersey. Hives can be painted, but left in its natural state, the cedar weathers down with a lovely soft grey patina. Cedar is less susceptible to bug infiltration and rot. Cedar outlasts other woods and usually requires little to no maintenance. |
