The British, Irish and Scots, knew them as "kwoits". Going back to the 16th Century they were used as a "weapon of war". Then they became shoes for carriage horses and eventually, trying to ring a metal hub (hob) with steel quoits became a popular pastime.
Quoits have sometimes been confused with horseshoes. There's quite a difference in the two games, though, and it mainly involves distance 21' between hubs for quoits versus 40 feet for horseshoes.
Our motivation for wanting to bring the "Original Trenton Quoit" back into circulation came about by finding products of inferior quality. That is the basis for our statement "Accept No Imitations" and, the fact that we can Guarantee our product for Life. |
