Pelekunu is a valley on the North Shore of Molokai where the original recipe of teri sauces was created and perfected. Pelekunu's Backside Special Teri Sauce, LLC is Native Hawaiian, family owned and operated business. The owner Ted Kuahine, his wife Michele, their sons TJ and Tyson bottle the sauces in Waialua, Oahu. Production and marketing is a family affair with a host of family and friends offering their kokua in manufacturing and promoting the great tasting product line.
The four sauce flavors include the original Backside Special Teri Sauce, Jawaiian Hot & Spicy, Jawaiian Rainbow, and our newest blend made for people looking for a lower sugar/lower sodium alternative called Island Style's Favorite. The product line promote's Hawaii's cultural mix of unique flavors like passion-orange and li hing mui seasoning found in our ever-popular Jawaiian Rainbow Teri Sauce. The sacues can be used as a marinade, for grilling, dipping, and as a dressing for vegetables, noodles, and fruits.
