Joe Turner was born in Athens, Texas. He grew up with a locally famous dad, Joe H. Turner, the reknowned basketball and football coach for Kilgore College. Joe is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin, where he earned his degree in pharmacology. After decades as a marketing executive in the pharmacutical industry, Joe started his own publishing company, Conaway & Turner. Joe spent many years writing and publishing manuals for the new home builder industry as well as writing his own novels, writing jokes for Jay Leno and exploring exciting locales all over the world. After retiring back to East Texas, he and his wife decided to open Piney Woods Press to help struggling authors publish their works.
Kate King Turner was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is a graduate of San Diego State University's Institute for Organizational Management. With over 25 years of nonprofit managment experience, Kate has led and served on numerous boards including semi-professional theaters, a regional medical center, chambers of commerce, college small business advisory, and many others. She was one of only six individuals appointed by the Governor to the California Small Business Board. An avid reader and co-author, Kate is currently working on her own book and helping to manage Piney Woods Press with her husband, Joe.
The Turners are Partners in Ministry and are Pastors at the Harleton United Methodist Church in Harleton, Texas. |
