Aloha Medicinals Inc. started out life as a Hawaii company on the island of Maui. The company was originally started by a group of
scientists and health care experts from several fields interested in growing Reishi and Cordyceps and other medicinally important
mushroom species. We built our first lab in Haiku, Maui in the spring of 1999. Right from the beginning Aloha Medicinals focused on
producing laboratory cultivated medicinal mushrooms of the highest quality, and this approach quickly paid off with customer demand. By
the spring of 2002 we had grown large enough that Hawaiian manufacturing was no longer a good option for us. In March, 2002 the company
moved to Santa Cruz, California where we took over the Sunrise Spawn Company, which had originally been Stoller Research Laboratory.
Dr. Benjamin Stoller, who started Stoller Research in Santa Cruz way back in 1955, was one of the real pioneers in the field of Mushroom
cultivation and especially the cultivation of button mushrooms. When Aloha Medicinals took over the Sunrise Spawn/Stoller Research
facility in 2002, besides gaining a fully qualified staff with years of experience and 50 years of manufacturing equipment, we also
inherited all of Dr. Stoller’s original research material on mushrooms, going as far back as the early 1940’s. (Doc Stoller, as he was
known throughout the industry, died in 1989) Much of his research had already been published, but we also got all of Doc Stoller’s lab
notebooks on every other project he had worked on over the last 60 years. Some of these were dead ends, some were projects that had
started and petered out for one reason or another, and some of these were projects that had lead to - or are in the process of becoming
- patented breakthroughs in the field of Mushroom Cultivation. This wealth of information was one of the reasons Aloha Medicinals
catapulted to the top of the medicinal mushroom industry in just a few short years. By the summer 2007, our unexcelled quality had
increased demand for our products to the point where we had to look outside the Santa Cruz facility to keep up with our product
manufacturing. That facility was simply no longer big enough for us to meet our customer’s demand. In June 2007 Aloha Medicinals moved
our entire Research and Manufacturing operation to Carson City, Nevada, right at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, at an
elevation of 5000 ft. This is the ideal location for maintaining 100% climate control for precise growing conditions, including the
reduced air pressure necessary for producing the world’s most potent medicinal mushroom species.
Today, Aloha Medicinals Inc. is the industry’s leading company in the cultivation of medicinal mushroom species, with over 4000 unique
